6. A public hearing on a resolution appropriating $120,000 in the General Fund to purchase an 18-acre parcel of land just south of the trailhead for Rock Canyon applying to the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016. (16-005)

7. A resolution waiving the right of Provo City under Utah Code 53A-2-403 to purchase the Provo High property declared to be surplus by the Provo School District (16-006)

8. A public hearing on an ordinance amending the zone map classification of approximately 0.21 acres of real property, generally located at 290 West 1625 North, from RC (Residential Conservation) to R3 (Medium Multiple Residential). Carterville Neighborhood. (15-0010R)

10. Consideration of a motion to amend the previously adopted Ordinance 2015-47, approved on December 1, 2015, which amended Provo City Code Chapter 2.29 (Neighborhood Advisory Board). (15-140)

11. Consideration of a motion to rescind the adoption of Ordinance 13-0005PPA, approved on December 1, 2015, which amended the zone map classification of 4.38 acres of real property, generally located at 1040 South 1000 East, from Heavy Commercial (CM) and Residential Conservation (RC) to Medium Density Residential (MDR).

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE THE LANDMARKS COMMISSION

The Provo City Landmarks Commission will hold a public hearing Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at 12:30 p.m. in the Community Development Conference Room at the Provo City Center, located at 330 West 100 South. The items listed below will be discussed, and anyone interested is invited to attend and provide comment. Preceding the public hearing, a briefing will be held at 12:00 p.m. in the Community Development Conference Room. The briefing is open to the public; however, formal presentation of items, public comment and actions will be reserved for the public hearing at 12:30 p.m.

ITEM 1 Review of responses to a request for proposals for the update to the Provo East Central Historic District Survey.

ITEM 2 The Provo City Landmarks Commission requests the designation of the BYU Women`s Gymnasium, located at 515 North University Avenue in the DT1 Zone, to the Provo Landmarks Register. North Park Neighborhood. 15-0002LMN, Josh Yost, 801-852-6408

Items noted on the agenda with a star (*) require legislative action by the Municipal Council following a public hearing. Unmarked items are administrative actions requiring the approval of only the Landmarks Commission. Decisions on items involving either landmark designation or the refusal to issue a Certificate of Historic Appropriateness may be appealed to the Municipal Council within thirty (30) days of the decision of the Commission per Section 16.03 of the Provo City Code.

Provo Municipal Council Inauguration

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE


PROVO MUNICIPAL COUNCIL INAUGURATION SET FOR JANUARY 5

Provo, Utah, December 30, 2015 – On Tuesday, January 5, 2016, the Provo Municipal Council will hold a formal inauguration of Council members elected in the November 2015 general election.

Gary Winterton, District 1, and Kay Van Buren, District 4, were elected to a second term on the Council. New members Dave Knecht, Dave Harding, and George Stewart were elected to represent District 3, District 5, and City Wide District II, respectively. All will serve four year terms with the exception of Harding, who is serving the final two years in the District 5 seat left vacant by the passing of Stephen Hales. Knecht and Stewart are returning to the Council after having served previously.

The inauguration will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 351 West Center Street. Bill Hulterstrom is serving as master of ceremonies. The Provo Police and Fire Department Joint Honor Guard will be joined by members of the Provo High School Chamber Singers for the opening ceremony. Provo Justice Court Judge Romney will administer the oath of office.

An open house will be held after the formal portion of the event until 4:30 p.m. The regular Council meeting will commence at 5:30 p.m.

The Municipal Council is the legislative and policy making body of Provo City. The Council, through the adoption of ordinances and resolutions, establishes laws, sets policy, oversees the budget, provides opinion on the administrative branch’s execution of the law, and approves long-term contracts and commitments of City resources.
