NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT

The Provo City Board of Adjustment will hold a public hearing on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. in the Municipal Council Chambers of the Provo City Center, located at 351 West Center Street. The items listed below will be discussed, and anyone interested is invited to attend and provide comment.

Public Hearing
      Item 1

Preceding the public hearing, dinner will be provided to Board of Adjustment members at 4:30 p.m. in the Community Development Conference Room, located at 330 West 100 South. The dinner is open to the public; however, formal presentation of items, public comment, and actions will be reserved for the public hearing at 5:00 p.m. in the Municipal Council Chambers.

Copies of the agenda materials, public hearing procedure, and staff recommendations are available the week of the hearing at reasonable cost in the Community Development office between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Agendas and staff recommendations are also generally available on the Provo City Community Development web site the week of the meeting at provo.org/boardofadjustment.

Decisions of the Board of Adjustment may be appealed to the 4th District Court by filing a written appeal to the Court within thirty (30) days after the filing of the decision of the Board of Adjustment per the requirements of Section 14.05.050 of the Provo City Code.

Provo City will make reasonable accommodations for all citizens interested in participating in this meeting. If assistance is needed to allow participation at this meeting, please call the Community Development Department at (801) 852-6400 before 12:00 p.m. the day before the meeting to make arrangements.

2019 Provo City Election Notice

2019 Provo City Election Notice

The City of Provo will hold a non-partisan municipal General Election on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

Positions available for the 2019 Election

City Council District 1 - 4-year term
City Council District 3 - 4-year term
City Council District 4 - 4-year term
City Council City Wide II - 4-year term

If more than two candidates file for an office, a primary election will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019.

As required by state and local law, to qualify for candidacy a person must be:

1. A United States Citizen
2. A resident of the municipality, or a recently annexed area, for the 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of election.
3. A resident of the council district if filing for one of the districts.
4. A registered voter of Utah.

Further, in accordance with Utah Constitution Article IV, Section 6, 'A mentally incompetent individual, an individual convicted of a felony, or an individual convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this state until the right to hold elective office is restored under Utah Code Section 20A-2-101.3 or 20A-2-101.5.'

Council Members shall not have other compensated employment with the municipality.

An individual seeking to become a candidate shall file a declaration of candidacy, in person with the city recorder, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., June 3 through June 7, 2019. A filing fee of $75 for a council position will be required at time of filing. In lieu of paying the filing fee, an individual may submit a petition signed by two hundred fifty (250) individuals. The petition must state that signatories support the candidacy of the individual and be filed with the city recorder at the time the individual files for candidacy.

Any resident of a municipality may nominate a candidate for a municipal office by filing a nomination petition and paying the filing fee with the City Recorder between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., June 3 through June 7, 2019.
