Notice: Provo City Council is accepting member applications for the Metropolitan Water District Board

The Metropolitan Water District is an independent agency created by the City under the authority of state law that manages certain water rights within Provo City boundaries, repays the debt related to Deer Creek Dam, and occasionally provides funding for wells and piping. The District is run by a board of trustees that currently consists of five members. One of the members is a City employee responsible for the City's water supply and distribution. The remaining board members are appointed by the Municipal Council and may not be employees or elected or appointed officials of Provo City. Board members will normally serve four-year terms, although state law requires the terms be staggered, which may affect the length of a term. The Metropolitan Water Board generally meets quarterly in March, June, September, and December, on the 2nd Monday of those months.  

Metropolitan Water Board Qualifications
An appointed board member must be:
  • a registered voter,
  • a property taxpayer; and
  • a resident of Provo City
How to Apply 
  • Three positions on the board are vacant

  • Applications must be submitted by Monday, March 6th, 2017
